[03] Case study

Slashscore Developers

From Resume 2.0 to Slashscore V2. We redesigned the developer profiling product end-to-end, added social features and new integrations, and shipped an invitation-only onboarding flow for the relaunch.

Scope

Full V2 redesign + new UX

[ 02 ] THE CHALLENGE

A V1 that worked, with a trust and clarity problem

The product had users and a clear hypothesis. What it didn't have was a UX that explained itself or a roadmap users believed in.

▸ The problem

We interviewed target users who'd never used Slashscore, walked them through the V1 product, and watched where they got lost. Three themes came back: the responsiveness wasn't what people expected from a modern web app, the score communication felt opaque (users didn't trust what they couldn't understand), and the interface felt inconsistent across flows.

We mapped the journeys, ranked the pain points, and turned them into a relaunch roadmap. V2 had to be bolder than V1, more transparent in how it talked to users, and more polished in the moments users care about. Designing something that's never been done before is the hard part. We welcomed it.

We also wanted V2's advanced features to feel like advanced features, not hidden menu items. Onboarding had to introduce capability without overwhelming.

[ 03 ] WHAT WE BUILT

A complete V2, ready to relaunch

Research, redesign, new features, and a controlled-rollout plan.

▸ Feature

User Research & Journey Mapping

We interviewed target users who'd never seen the product, mapped their journeys, and used the pain points to build a relaunch roadmap.

▸ Feature

Full Visual Redesign

A bold visual identity built to stand out in a crowded HR-tech category. New IA, new patterns, new product feel.

▸ Feature

Social Features

Profile-to-profile interactions added so the platform stopped feeling like a one-way scoring tool and started feeling like a community.

▸ Feature

New Integrations

Additional data sources plugged into the scoring engine, broadening the digital footprint the platform measures.

▸ Feature

Invitation-Only Onboarding

A progressive sign-up system that lets the V2 product onboard users in controlled waves, gathering feedback as it scales.

▸ Feature

Trust & Transparency Layer

Communication patterns redesigned so users understand how their score is calculated and what changes it. No more black-box vibes.

[ 04 ] OUTCOMES

From single-purpose to multi-source profiling platform

The product, repositioned.

Repositioning

From Resume 2.0 to a richer real-time profiling platform with a clear point of view.

User trust

Transparent score communication and visible data sources rebuilt confidence in the product.

Controlled launch

Invitation-only system gives the team data and runway before opening the floodgates.

[ 05 ] TECH STACK

A research-driven design and engineering stack

Tools that let designers and engineers collaborate from research through ship.

React + TypeScript

Strict typing across the redesigned interface. Catch errors at compile time, ship safer.

Node.js

Backend for integrations, scoring orchestration, and the data pipelines behind the profiles.

PostgreSQL

Profile data, score history, and integration tokens stored relationally for predictable queries.

Figma + Storybook

Design system shared between Figma and code. Designers and engineers worked off one source of truth.

User Research Tools

Maze + Userbrain for unmoderated testing on prototypes before commitment to engineering.

AWS Serverless

Scales with the invitation-only ramp without paying for idle infrastructure.
